Moving is not always fun,
Especially if you are a fish.
Even when your owner finds them all new homes
And makes sure they follow her list.
Hardest still is hearing the old owner
Mutter about the changes that will come
When there are new fish in this,
Their old home.
Oh the tears that fish cry are unseen but just as real,
Oh the thrashing of the tails are not so joyful,
Even though they know that they will still live.
What do the fish care about substrate levels?
Or layers of sand then gravel and rock
Fish could care less if it has plastic or a block!
“Now my fish” says the old owner, ”please grant me a boon
I would never leave you that you know.
But this trip is days and days away from this,
Your very first home.
Go with your new owner and you will see
That your new home will be even bigger and fresher
Just you wait and see.”
So the fish held their conference, they wanted to be fair
The vote was not without discussion but in the end it carried.
The fish would learn to move, they would give their new owner
Time to learn them and time for them to learn the owner.
At the end of the moving day, all the fish were safe and sound
Although the African Feathered Finned Catfish
Still wore a frown!
