Having your adult child home for a bit is refreshingly familiar
As well as more than a bit of a heart tugging pain.
She's all grown up, she has views of her own,
She no longer agrees or shows wide eyed surprise
When her Mom says something intelligent or astute!
Still, I have to try and sway her opinions,
Especially of the tripe that she watches on television!
To love a character that does not accept responsibility for his actions
Worse yet, the hospital where the show is set allows it!
Oh, yes I know its just show, I realize this is make believe
But I remember as well, a patient of mine, a sweetheart,
Who believed her beloved soap opera characters were her kin!
